This guide shows you how to get the Peacock TV app on your Samsung Smart TV. You will learn how to install the app and activate your account. You need to use the code from your TV and a separate device for activation.
Before you start, you must check your TV. The Peacock TV app only works on Samsung Smart TV models made in 2017 or later.
If your TV is from 2016 or older, the app will not appear in the app store. You cannot install it. To get Peacock on an older TV, you must plug in a separate streaming device. This includes a Roku, Amazon Fire TV, or Apple TV. This guide is for 2017 and newer TVs.
Follow these steps to find and install the app.
➡️ Press the 'Home' button on your Samsung TV remote. This brings up the main Smart Hub menu at the bottom of your screen.
➡️ Navigate to the 'Apps' icon. It looks like four small squares. Select it.
➡️ This opens the Samsung App Store. In the top right corner, find the 'Search' icon. It looks like a magnifying glass. Select it.
➡️ Type "Peacock TV" using the on screen keyboard.
➡️ Select the Peacock TV app from the search results.
➡️ On the app's detail page, select 'Install'.
➡️ Wait for the app to download and install. This usually takes less than a minute.
➡️ After it installs, you can find the Peacock TV app in your Smart Hub row.
➡️ Open the Peacock TV app on your Samsung TV.
➡️ The app will ask you to sign in. It will show you an activation code on the screen. This is a short code of letters and numbers.
➡️ Keep this code on your TV screen. Do not close the app.
➡️ Now, you must use a second device. Grab your phone, a computer, or a tablet.
➡️ Open a web browser on that second device. You can use Chrome, Safari, or another browser.
➡️ In the address bar, type this exact web address: peacocktv.com/tv/samsung.
➡️ The website will load. It will ask you to enter the activation code that is on your TV screen.
➡️ Type the code from your TV into the box on the website.
➡️ The website will ask you to log in to your Peacock TV account. If you do not have an account, you need to create one.
➡️ Enter your Peacock TV email and password. Click 'Sign In'.
➡️ Once you sign in, the website will show a success message. It will tell your TV that you are activated.
➡️ Look back at your TV. The Peacock TV app will refresh by itself. The activation code screen will disappear.
➡️ The app will log you in. You can now browse and watch all the shows, movies, and sports on Peacock TV.
➡️ Why can't I find the Peacock TV app in the app store?
This is the most common problem. It means your Samsung TV is not supported. The Peacock TV app only works on Samsung TV models from 2017 or newer. If you search the app store and it does not appear, your TV is too old.
➡️ What do I do if the app is freezing or crashing?
You can try three things. First, try to 'cold boot' your TV. Hold down the power button on your Samsung remote until the TV turns off and then back on again. This clears its memory. If that fails, go to your TV's 'Settings', then 'Support', and select 'Software Update'. Make sure your TV's firmware is up to date. As a last step, you can delete the Peacock TV app and reinstall it.
➡️ My activation code is not working. What's wrong?
These codes expire quickly. If you wait too long, the code on your TV becomes invalid. Go back to the Peacock TV app on your TV. There is usually a button to request a new code. Get the new code and try entering it on peacocktv.com/tv/samsung again.
➡️ Why is my show buffering or loading slowly?
This is almost always a problem with your internet connection. Peacock TV needs a stable internet speed. They recommend at least 3.0 Mbps for streaming. For high quality live sports, you need 8 Mbps or more. Try restarting your router. You can also reduce buffering by stopping other devices on your network from using the internet at the same time.
➡️ The app is installed, but it won't open. How do I fix it?
This is similar to the freezing issue. First, try to cold boot your Samsung TV. Hold the power button on the remote until it restarts. This fixes most app problems. If it still won't open, your best option is to uninstall the Peacock TV app, then reinstall it from the app store.
